Cork telecomms company announces multi-million euro acquisition of real-time communications specialist

Spearline takeover of testRTC will supercharge its WebRTC capabilities through US expansion, enhancing the company’s already global footprint

IRELAND – Spearline, a Cork-born global telecommunications company, today announced the acquisition of Israeli real-time communications solutions developer testRTC, in an estimated eight-figure deal. Headquartered in Skibbereen and with offices in Waterford, India and Romania, Spearline assists organizations, such as Unified Communication and Enterprise Contact Centres to diagnose, escalate and resolve issues with their communications channels. By enabling users to monitor the technical quality of customer and internal phone communications the Spearline solution is mission-critical in empowering organizations to be proactive and protect their customer relationships.

Through incorporating testRTC’s suite of products and services, Spearline will significantly increase the extent of its capabilities and enter the WebRTC communications sector, successfully merging the expertise behind the two services into one single communications solution. As a recognized leader in the provision of WebRTC solutions, testRTC was designed and built for the new generation of real-time communications. This latest acquisition will bring 6 new WebRTC focused tools to Spearline’s existing offering. Through the procurement of testRTC, Spearline plans to move into the communications services and solutions providers market by cross-selling to its current customer base and appealing to enterprise customers worldwide as a new target market for testRTC. testRTC is the only full suite vendor currently capable of assisting developers and enterprises with their testing, monitoring, and support needs, setting it apart from competitors.

testRTC was founded in 2015 by CEO Tsahi Levent-Levi, VP R&D Amit Shachak, and CTO Muly Oved. As part of this major acquisition, the trio along with all their current employees will join Spearline, while the company will further expand its skilled workforce with over 20 new roles created across several departments, including development, support, customer engagement, and sales and marketing. The company also aims to open a US office in California’s Silicon Valley in 2022.

A study by Market Reports World found that the WebRTC industry is set to grow at a CAGR of almost 46% until 2024, to the value of an estimated €14.2 billion. The report also suggests that there will be a sizeable demand for WebRTC products and services over the course of the next 3 years, with the COVID-19 pandemic acting as a catalyst in the rapid adoption of new and innovative telecommunications technologies. In addition to this, research published by Twilio reveals that 79% of companies now use videoconferencing to communicate with customers.

Commenting on the acquisition of testRTC, Spearline CEO and Co-founder Kevin Buckley commented:

“Our acquisition of testRTC is a huge advancement towards the next step for Spearline. By integrating the testRTC technology with Spearline’s current testing capabilities we are now in a position where we can provide our customers with a solution that no other vendor in the world can offer, and we have a team of experts to continue our development into the future.”

CEO and Co-founder of testRTC, Tsahi Levent-Levi, said:

“For me it is the end of one chapter and the opening of a new one. And that excites me – the things we can achieve and the plans we’re making for the future as part of this acquisition with Spearline.”
