We are pleased to announce that South Africa has recently joined Spearline mobile and is available for immediate testing. This means we can now check your numbers with one of the largest mobile operators in South Africa - MTN. The server is located in Johannesburg, which is where the calls will originate from.

- South Africa has 11 official languages.
South Africa is known as being the “Rainbow Nation” thanks to the mix of cultures and people living across the country. The status of being a cultural “melting pot” is evident in the fact that South Africa has a whopping 11 official languages: English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, IsiNdebele, Sesotho, Northern Sotho, Setswana, SiSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga.
- South Africa is the only country in the world with three capital cities.
Three different destinations make up South Africa’s capital cities. This is to represent the South African government being divided into three sections. Cape Town is the judicial capital, Pretoria is the administrative capital and Bloemfontein is the legislative capital.
One street in South Africa has produced two Nobel Prize winners.
Former President Nelson Mandela AND Archbishop Desmond Tutu both lived on Vilakazi Street in Soweto, Johannesburg. They were both awarded with a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and 1984 respectively.
Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains in the world.
It is believed that Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains in the world. Table mountain is approximately 260 million years old; it’s also home to thousands of species of plant life, including species unique to the Cape Floral Region.
- South Africa is a wildlife wonderland.
While South Africa only covers 1% of the Earth’s land surface, it is home to an abundance of animals, birds and marine life. The country boasts 10% of the world’s bird, fish and plant species as well as 6% of its mammal and reptile species. The country has the world’s largest land mammal, (the elephant), the largest bird (the ostrich), the largest fish (whale shark), the tallest animal (the giraffe) and the fastest land mammal (the cheetah).
- South Africa’s Cape Winelands have around 560 wineries and 4,400 primary producers.
South Africa is home to the world’s longest wine route: Route 62. It spans an impressive 850 kilometres and visiting some of the excellent wineries along the way is a must-do experience for lovers of fine wine.
