PRESS RELEASE

Today, three West Cork businesses, Spearline, Ludgate and O’Donnell Design Ltd, launched the Here to Stay initiative to showcase job opportunities in Skibbereen, Co Cork.  As part of Here to Stay, open days will take place on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 1pm - 6pm in two venues; the Spearline headquarters on North Street, and The Ludgate Hub on Townshend Street.  All are welcome to attend to learn more about open roles.

Speaking at the launch of Here to Stay, Lorraine McCarthy, Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) at Spearline, said: “This initiative is to show people that there are career opportunities in West Cork.  There may be a misconception out there that in order to have a successful career, you need to work long hours in large cities. We offer an alternative lifestyle. At Spearline, you can be a success and have a great quality of life.”

Ludgate Chief Executive, Adrienne Harrington continued: “We are delighted to be part of this campaign, highlighting the high-quality job opportunities available here in Skibbereen. Over the past 2 years, we have seen more than a dozen families relocate to West Cork from the United States, Europe and other parts of Ireland. These families are able to enjoy a superb quality of life while contributing to a sustainable community in the region. At a time when our cities are at breaking point, we offer a viable alternative to city living, and we invite everyone in the region to visit us on the afternoon of the 23rd December to see at first hand what we have to offer.”

Katherine O’Sullivan, General Manager at O’Donnell Design Ltd said: “The career opportunities that West Cork has on offer are ever evolving. The Here to Stay initiative was created in order to highlight the wealth of opportunities available across multiple sectors not just in Skibbereen, but throughout the region. The choice between either having a successful career or having a positive work life balance is no longer one that needs to be made. We hope that by highlighting the opportunities available people begin to see West Cork as a viable option in order to have the best of both worlds.”
