On the 15th of October, the team at Spearline will don the Lycra in anticipation of taking part in the annual Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race, or SCAR as it's locally known. SCAR is a multi-discipline adventure race held annually in West Cork where 100% of race entry fees are donated to local charities.

We are again proud to sponsor such a worthy event, from which this years proceeds will go to Special Olympics Munster.

While unlike our friends from Special Olympics, we my not be in the running for gold, many of us have set our own individual challenges for this years event. Some are aiming to better their race times from last year, others are pitting themselves against each other, and the rest of us are just hoping to finish the race!  The event spans over 70km at Expert level and involves running, cycling and kayaking over some of the most wild and beautiful terrain West Cork has to offer.  If the race itself doesn't take your breath away, the scenery surely will!

We have put in a huge amount of training in this year in Spearline via our Wellness Programme.  We've cycled from Mizen to Malin and back (on a spinning bike!), pounded pavements, sweated through circuit classes, limbered up in yoga, jumped into the Atlantic, de-stressed in Taekwon-do, found inner balance through mindfulness, and eaten lots and lots of cake!

Lets hope all the hard work pays off on the 15th of October.  If you'd care to join us registration is still open at http://www.skibbereenadventurerace.com/
